The Estimating/OE Wizard is a utility within the Enterprise 32 program that will allow a user to quickly and conveniently enter estimates and orders in Estimating/Order Entry. Wizards are based on Enterprise templates with the added ability to build a list of options including: PrePress, Postpress, InLineOps, Stock selections, and Ink templates to allow much greater use of templates than was previously possible. Wizards are defined in the File Maintenance Module and are capable of using both single and multiple component templates as well as PrePress and PostPress templates.
The Wizard also allows Enterprise to automatically create additional printing components based on page counts. For example a Wizard may be based on a template for a 16 page signature but in the Wizard selections the Page Count field may have a page count of 28 pages entered. The system will then automatically setup a 16 page sheetwise component and an 8 page work and turn component plus a 4 page work and turn component. All components will use the same parent and press sheet size with the number up and out adjusted as needed.
It should be noted that the Wizard continues to evolve and develop as users become familiar with its functionality. The latest release allows for the Ink Templates to be set up with up to three presses assigned to the an ink template. This feature allows the user to assign Partial Colors to print on those presses. The presses and partial color settings are brought in to the estimate or order using two Ink Template selection fields added to the Ink selection window. In this way up to three presses are brought into the Press Process screen. The ability to assign three Prepress processes that may be brought in with the Ink template with a Prepress Quantity field associated with each process is also available when building the Ink template.
An example of the practical application of this enhancement is to consider the printed piece that runs on one press for a four color process face, a second press for a one color back side that is not one of the front side colors and then passes through a third press for a colored foil stamping application. Using the properly set up Ink template the three presses, all inks and foils, and the Prepress processes required for the associated Die making could be selected by choosing a side one ink template and a side 2 ink template. Additionally the template would prompt the user to select the side 1 inks from the category in the template and then prompt for the selection of the side 2 inks from the designated ink category.
