Ganging is the combining of different components onto 1 or more press sheets OR combing sequential press runs to increase efficiency in production. Eclipse has 4 ways to achieve the ganging of work. The Eclipse ganging features are designed to allow the user to quickly assign jobs to various types of ganging options. These options are not designed to perform complex logic on the best way to gang jobs together. For complex ganging it is suggested that the user pursue more advanced 3rd party applications that are able to use custom driven logic to arrive at the best possible press sheet configuration.
Ganging affects system calculations primarily by (but not exclusively) reducing the processes, makereadies, inks and stock down to what is required by a single press sheet and then dividing the cost amongst the individual components or jobs based on the percentage allotted.
In the case of Prepress; costs of the specific process will be divided amongst the components based on the percentage calculated by the number up.
For Postpress; calculations of the cost of makereadies of the specific process will be divide amongst the components and the run of the process will be calculated normal based on calculation method and the number up within each process.
In both case, the processes that will be included in the gang run will need to be identified by selecting the "Include in Gang Run" checkbox.
The Gang Button is primarily used to estimate how best to combine components within a single estimate or order only and is included in the Eclipse base system. It affects system calculations primarily (but not exclusively) by reducing the makereadies, inks and stock down to what is required by a single component and then divided amongst the Gang included components based on the percentage allotted. In the case of Prepress, costs and Postpress calculation the processes that will be included in the gang run will need to be identified by selecting the "Include in Gang Run" checkbox. The press has additional options for ganging percentages that allow for more ways to control how the Plates, Makereadies, Press Run and Washup can be handled. See also Gang Factor.

The Gang Run Wizard is a separate module that integrates with Eclipse and allows the user to quickly and conveniently select multiple jobs and create gang run orders. The program will be most useful for those companies that frequently enter numerous jobs with similar specifications, such as multiple orders for business cards, flyers, labels, etc.
There are several 3rd party imposition applications that specifically integrate with Eclipse to allow for more complicated ganging of estimates or orders that may or may not be of the same finished size. Ask your sales representative for more information.
