Update November 29, 2021
A template by definition is a guide or a pattern used in making or duplicating something; in Eclipse that something would be an Estimate or an Order. The key thought is that by creating and using templates the user will save significant time entering future estimates and orders. Of nearly equal importance is that using templates the potential for input error will also be reduced. A third potential benefit is that the level of expertise required to create an estimate or an order may be reduced.
Each template must be uniquely identified in the system. To this end, it will be helpful for the user to define Template Categories before creating actual templates. Template Categories, created in Standards, will allow the user to group similar template types (e.g. certain product types, or templates for specific customers).
Update November 29, 2021
The Enterprise system includes a restriction regarding which user may edit templates. Refer to option "Restrict from Editing Templates" using Enterprise 32 main screen menu selection "Utilities/User Manager-Miscellaneous" tab
The Enterprise system includes five distinct template types:
Default Template
The Default Template is a special type of component template that the system will use to load specified data every time an estimate or an order is created. See: Create Default Template.
Prepress Template
This template type will save and retrieve prepress processes. These templates will allow the user to conveniently retrieve repeatable combinations of prepress processes for use in estimates and orders, or for use in conjunction with other templates. See: Create Prepress Template.
Postpress Template
This template type will save and retrieve postpress/bindery processes. These templates will allow the user to conveniently retrieve repeatable combinations of postpress/bindery processes for use in estimates and orders, or for use in conjunction with other templates. See: Create Postpress/Bindery Template.
Component Template
This template type will save and retrieve all processes that the user has added to create an estimate or order component, including Outside Services. Templates for Quick Order Entry will be created using this template type. This template type may use a price grid. See: Create Component Template.
Multi-Component Template
This template type will save and retrieve all components that were used to create an estimate or an order. Estimate templates may be created using the Save Template button (on the Estimate Header/Order Header screens) and loaded using the Template Code drop-down list, both located on the Estimate Header/Order Header screens.
Note:
When adding a template to an estimate or order, the system will automatically update the template to reflect current production values entered in Standards.
