Use Plate Size

Updated July 4, 2022

Applies to : Prepress Processes

This option will calculate the quantity as the square inch of the plate size choosen in the press process automatically. In order for the system to calculate correctly the Costing Method must be set to Cost per Square Inch and a value must be entered into either the Unit Cost or at least 1 tier in the Cost Grid.

When the process is added to an Estimate or an Order the Quantity field is visible allowing the user to multiple the square inches of the plate by the Quantity.

The plate size calculation is based on the Width and Length fields in the Platemaking Process setup.

The appropriate Plate Code must also be chosen by the user or defaulted in the Press Process.

Once these values are defined the size on the Prepress Process will change to the square inches of the Plate Code size once the user either clicks the View Layout, Calculate or Save button for the Component.

Special Note for Flexo Components

When using this option for Flexo Components the user must NOT define a Plate Code on a Flexo press.

The system is designed to calculate the variable nature of Flexo plates and will use the Size Around multiplied by the Rolling Running Width located on the Layout/Inks tab then multiplied by the value in the Quantity field in the Prepress Process. The will require the user to manually enter in the number of plates required in the Prepress Process.
