The system will automatically enter the gripper and side guide values that have been defined for the press in Standards (or set in the Default Template).
The user should understand that the values in these fields will change whenever the press selection is changed. The point is this: if the user enters specific gripper/side guide values (possibly overriding default values) and then subsequently selects another press, the gripper/side guide values should be reviewed for accuracy.
How is this information used by the system? Eclipse will add Gripper/Side Guide to the Untrim/Sig Flat Size when calculating “outs” from the press sheet. Keep in mind that the Untrim/Sig Flat dimensions are, left-to-right, “W” x “L” and that Gripper will be added to “L” field and Side Guide will be added to the “W” field.
Generally, it is recommended that the user not define default gripper and side guide values for a press as these values will be entered whenever the press is selected. Rather, the user may find it more useful to add these items as needed.
