The Material Flat Costs are costs that will be added on top of the calculated cost based on the cost method. They are intended to allow for additional costs that could include special handling and inspection when receiving material or additional care required when producing the job.
Note however that these costs do not flow through to the Purchase Order but are strictly added to the Estimate and Job Cost.
There are 2 locations that a material flat cost can be entered each calculating independently of each other.
Material Main Screen
In this case the flat cost is calculated on top of the price per each.
For example in an estimate;
Qty required 1 sheets @ $67/M with a flat cost of $10
(( 1 * $67 ) + $10 = $67.50 + $10 = $77.50
You can also add Flat Cost to the Estimated Unit Cost Grid thereby allowing different Flat Costs based on quantity.
In this case the flat cost would be calculated on top of the price per each. However in the Estimating Unit Cost may have additional "tiers" set up for different Flat Costs.
For Example
|
Qty |
Unit Cost |
Flat Cost |
|
1 |
$67 |
$3 |
|
5 |
$67 |
$8 |
For example in an estimate;
Qty required 1 or 6 sheets @ $67/M
(( 1 * $67 ) + $3 = $67.50 + $3 = $70.50
(( 6 * $67 ) + $8 = $402.00 + $8 = $410.00
*NOTE: The Flat Cost is added only once per tier and NOT per unit.
If there is a Flat Cost on the Material Item main screen AND included in the Estimating Unit Cost then they will be added together.
For example in an estimate;
Qty required 1 or 6 sheets @ $67/M with a flat cost of $10 and an Estimating Unit Cost (Flat Cost) of $3 or $8 as in above example.
(( 1 * $67 ) + $10 + $3 = $67.50 + $10 + $3 = $80.50
(( 6 * $67 ) + $10 + $8 = $402.00 + $10 + $8 = $420.00
In all the examples above the Purchase Order would only show the cost calculated based on the costing method.
