Envelope Code Recommendations

Here is an example of a Material Code Syntax that allows operators and users to quickly scan and search the codes. It also allows items on the floor to be easily identified by reading the code.

Category Code-Basic Weight-Open Side-Paper Type-Square Inches
 

Category codes: 3 digits - arbitrary
Example: 110 = Small Envelopes / 111 = Large Envelopes
Or
110 – Regular / 111 – Window
Or
107 - #7 Booklet Envelopes / 108 - #8 Envelopes  / 109 – #9 Envelopes /110 - #10 Envelopes 

 
Basic weight: 3 Digits – usually 024 for envelopes
Example: 024 -24lb WW
 
Open Side Code: 2 digits – OE or OS
Example: OE – Open End or OS – Open Side
 
Paper Type: 3 digitals – WW / Kraft / Special
Example: 001 – White Wove / 002 – Kraft / 005 – Smooth / 010 – Linen (Blue) /011 – Linen (Arctic White) / 020 – Laid (Blue)  / 020 – Laid (Arctic White)  / 099 - Tyvek
 
Square Inches: 4 digits - square inches of sheet rounded up
Example: 3.875x9.5 = 0037 / 9x12 = 0108
