Every component type with the exception of Digital/HSC and Finished Goods has a section to allow the user to define the ink material used in the component. All inks sections have the same entry screens but will have certain fields grayed out for their specific requirements.
Ink Entry Screen
Under the Ink Items section the system will display ink categories and individual ink items that have been entered the Material section of Standards or in the Inventory Module.
To add an ink, highlight a category and an individual ink in the Ink Items section, then click Select .
Once the ink material has been selected the data fields (and cost) may be modified for the estimate. It is important to note that changes will NOT be written back to Standards.
The user MUST select an ink from the list. The system does not allow for a new ink to be entered "on the fly".
Material Code : (Grayed out) The Code that was selected
Description : The inks description from Standards. The user may change this without worrying about modifying the value in Standards
Flat Cost : Enter a flat cost for the ink if that is desired. A Flat Cost value will override ink coverage calculations.
Coverage : Calculated as the square inches of stock that the ink will cover, per pound, if the sheet is covered 100%.
# of Washups : Press washups that the ink will require. Production time will be calculated based on the time per washup that is defined for a specific press.
Part Number (Business Forms Component ONLY) : In the case of Multi Part Forms for example, the inks on part 1 may be different that other parts. Here the part may be specified for a particular ink.
Press Number : The system allows a single component to calculate multiple presses. This allows the paper, presses and inks to be defined to specific press numbers.
Cylinder Code : The ink material Cylinder Code field is available only in the Flexo Component. It is intended for informational use only and allows the user to assign the inks to a specific version of the run.
Version : The ink material Version field is available only in Flexo or Business Forms Components. It is intended for informational use only and allows the user to assign the inks to a specific version of the run.
Plate Change Required : This option is only available for Flexo or Business Forms Components. It is intended to allow the user to define more then the specified material that is technically required for the Number of Inks and include plate changes.
Unit Cost : Use this field to define a cost grid that will be used for a specific material.
OK : Closes the window and saves the selection or modification.
Status : Allows the user to view the inventory status of the item. The system will display all factors that determine the status for the item.
Set Default : Makes the entry the default for Ink for Estimates and/or Orders.
Cancel : Closes the window and DOES NOT save the selection or modification.
